About Our Project
Immersive virtual technologies are no longer restricted to science fiction stories or exotic research labs: they are available to a growing number of people on their desktop computers via the Internet. Virtual environments are computer‐based, distributed, virtual space or set of virtual places where people can meet and interact with others or with objects via their virtual representation as agents/avatars or as virtual objects.
Immersive virtual worlds are useful in how we work, play, and live in the 21st Century. The critical importance of studying such environments while they are still emerging cannot be understated. We feel that using a comprehensive and integrated approach to the investigation of how these environments affect trust, credibility, and information problem solving will make an extraordinary contribution to knowledge of online environments.
We hope you will explore our project site and read about our work. My project team and I are eager to engage with your comments, questions, and reactions.
